AARP and death of Mother
I googled to find information on how to report my Mother's death to SSA. AARP gave 180*-722-**** as number for SSA.
When I called, I was ad-marketed for AARP membership. Went on Social Security.gov and found correct number to be 180*-772-****. Since number given by AARP is only one digit off from actual number, I believe that this is abuse, particularly for a person already coping with a death. The average citizen trusts AARP and this type of thing should not happen.
I complained to Office of Inspector General for SSA, my Senator, and AARP. In my opinion, the AARP is just another Washington swamp creature, only interested in $$$ and influence. I usually don't waste my time complaining because it does very little good, but this time I did.
I hope AARP does not receive tax dollars, but they probably do. I hope more seniors wise up and put these people out of business!
Reason of review: Misrepresentation.
Preferred solution: Don't join and drain swamp.
