Last year when I joined AARP, I was given the option to pay my membership dues in advance for 1 year, 3 years or 5 years. I chose to pay in advance for 5 years for $63 so as not to think about it each year.

Of course, at my senior age, it is easy to forget that I paid in advance. So when the bill for $16 came to renew my membership for the new year, I was about to pay it. Then I looked at my subscription list and saw that I had paid 5 yrs in advance.

It seems that AARP has a nice scam with us elderly folks whose memories ain't what they used to be. Even though we've paid in advance, they send us a bill each year to get us to pay again.

Multiple this $16 a year by millions of seniors, and wow, they got a good thing going. Be wary!

Same here. I had a 5 year subscription, and renewed it after 2 years with their THEFT parctice. Shameful.

I received a second notice. They claim my membership has expired and they will restore my membership benefits when I send them $43 for three more years; however, the expiration date on my card is already May 2020.

Right! I've mailed them 2 checks; one on Oct.

13 and another on Nov. 5. AARP keeps telling me they have not rec'd my checks. So far the checks haven't been cashed, but where are these checks going?

Someone must be throwing them away rather than processing them or something! I'm not about to give AARP my credit card number!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something seems very fishy!!! I, too, receive notices to renew even when I have already renewed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also received a bill for $16.00 to renew membership for one year.

However my membership card renewal is 2019. Glad to know this is not just happening to me.

I knew I had paid up and was not going to send them $16.00

I paid for a three years in advance and my new cards was supposed to expire in sept of 2017 however they expire now in july of 2017. Thats a rip off of two months. I wont be renewing again.
