Scamming fraud of elders and this company is hiding from accountability

This AARP is selling information of seniors to make money. It is virtually impossible to stop this. Every single piece of mail increases the risk of identity theft. It's time to do a class action against AARP.

Not impressed

Just got my renewal notice in the mail, $16 for the year (and asking/begging) for more (contribution) at the bottom . All I get are petitions to sign that are sent to senators and reps (something I can do myself online) - and then ASK/BEG FOR MORE $$$. Now their CEO earns way over $300k/year, and yet they want you to pay postage on their correspondence . Rather cheesy.

Predatory, no customer service without providing phone numbers and emails

I have tried numerous times to cease mailings from AARP which are not only many they are unuseful and a waste of paper. Try going on their site. Imagine an elder trying to interact with the layout. There is no easy way to contact AARP unless they seize phone numbers and emails to sell to crematories, and life insurance. Just about ready to report the entire scam.

Unhappy with AARP Hartford program

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have had auto insurance with the Hartford for years, under the AARP program.

I recently had an incident where a large dog ran at my auto and jumped into the front fender damaging the fender and drivers door.

Hartford was treating the incident as an accident claim, with a $1,000 deductible and loss of diminishing deductible. I learned that this should be a comprehensive claim, where I had only a $100 deductible.

I eventually got the claim changed. Both my wife and I have been claim-free for well over 20 years.

After what I consider very poor communication and service, and difficulty getting them to change the claim info on my account which continued to show $1,000 deductible, I finally got the claim settled. After becoming frustrated with a person, I was forwarded to at Hartford, she claimed I was being rude, by just insisting on a straight answer to a question. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I had to upfront over $2,000 at the body shop, which has since been refunded by Hartford.

As a retired senior and AARP member the deductible of $1,000 in stead of $100, would have been a problem for us.

However, the big shock was when I recently received my renewal for my auto insurance, which had an increase of over 44% per annum.

Yes, over 44 per cent annual increase.

So, after I called out Hartford on trying to charge me 10 times what I should be paying for the dog incident, they increase my premium by over 44%.

Here are some interesting facts about The Hartford,

Recent annual profit of $535 mil. Based on approx. 250 working days, this is a profit of $2.1 mil, per day.

Owners equity in Hartford is estimated at over $13 Billion. CEO earns estimated $16 mil per annum.

This is an average of $307,692 every single week.

Another interesting fact is that Hartford made campaign donations to over 400 elected officials of both parties, as well as millions to their association groups, who lobby and donate to the political parties. So I dont expect any help there.

I often wonder whether AARP is serving its members or the political interests of those running the organization.
